How many driving lessons will I need?
According to the DSA, the average is 40 hours, with 16 hours practice with family or a friend,
for complete beginners, although this tends to be less in most cases.
How much will my tests cost? (Prices correct from 05/10/09)
Your Driving Theory Test will cost £23, and your Practical Test will cost £62 on a weekday, or £75 on an evening or weekend.
Who are the DSA?
The DSA are the Driving Standards Agency, A government public service, your driving tests must be taken through this agency.
Don't confuse the DSA with the DVLA!
Who are the DVLA?
The DVLA is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, they deal with your Road Tax and car registration.
Will I pass my test first time?
Only 43% of people in the UK pass their practical test first time round.
With good tuition, good practice and a good attitude, you will be good enough to pass.
If you are well prepared for the Driving Theory Test, by reading the Highway Code, or by using the Theory Test Books & DVD's,
then you are likely to pass your Theory Test with ease.
What is the Pass Plus?
New drivers who wish to increase their skill levels after passing their test can take a pass plus course,
which covers driving in different conditions including town driving, all weather driving and motorway driving.
The main aim of this course is to develop the attitude and skills that are essential in driving. This can significantly
reduce your chances of becoming injured in a serious road accident and consequently,
many insurance companies offer considerable discounts for holders of the Pass Plus Certificate.
